  • Length: 376 pages
  • Written by Bob Rich: Owner of the Buffalo Bisons, Northwest Arkansas Naturals, and West Virginia Black Bears

When Bob "Bubba" Rich decided to embark upon his own quest--to qualify for the Metropolitan South Florida Fishing Tournament Hall of Fame--he didn't realize the amount of strength he would need to accomplish his goals. By the time it all was over, he had exhibited as much strength, valor, patience, and fortitude as any angler could muster.

Consider his goals--to take ten species of gamefish, on specific types of tackle, with difficult-to-achieve minimum weight requirements: a twenty-five-pound barracuda, a twenty-pound permit, a twenty-five-pound dorado, a blue or white marlin, a twenty-five-pound wahoo, a nine-pound bonefish, a sailfish of any weight, a six-pound largemouth bass, a one-hundred-pound tarpon, and, finally, an eighteen-pound snook.

Fish with Rich as he probes the waters of south Florida and the Bahamas, searching for the ten species that will gain him entrance to the Hall of Fame. Enjoy the incredible highs he feels when finally catching a fish that qualifies; share with him the unfathomable lows when things go wrong, and he just can't catch a break on some of the gamefish.

Didn't expect the insider perspective to be this candid — the chapters on running the Bisons and the Naturals show the actual business side, not just clubhouse stories. My used copy had a scuffed cover like the listing warned, but all 376 pages were clean.

I've read a lot of baseball books but this one actually gets into the business side of running three minor league teams. The 376 pages fly by, and my used copy had only a faint crease on the cover, nothing that bothered me.

Got this for my dad who follows minor league baseball, and he couldn't put it down for two days straight. It's a hefty 376 pages but the stories about running the Naturals and Black Bears feel personal, like sitting across the table from the owner himself.
